Metals typically have one of three types of crystal structures. 1-Face-Centered Cubic (FCC)- This structure has fourteen atoms, one atom in each corner and another in the center of each face of the cube. 2-The Body-Centered Cubic (BCC)- This structure has nine atoms, one atom in the center and the rest in each corner. 3- The Hexagonal Close-Packed (HCP)- This structure has seventeen atoms that make up a hexagon. There are seven atoms arranged at each end, with three atoms pressed into the middle. Even though there are more crystal structures that occur, most metals consist of these three primary structures.
