How your worksite is organized is one of the major factors for working in an environment that is safe. Always be aware of what is going on around you. Keeping an area organized is very important in hand and power tool safety.
Keep an illuminated, and clear surroundings around your workstation so employees can walk through the area without obstruction. The floor should be clean and dry to keep spillage to a minimum. Put away all unnecessary tools and materials. Keeps cords and hoses away from walkways, heat, oil, and sharp edges.
Do not stand directly behind the tool. Bystanders should stay in a separate area far from the work area. You might need safety screens or fire shields to keep sparks and debris from hitting the bystanders. Make sure the area is properly ventilated if the tool is going to emit fumes.
