Products from manufacturers are the result of many people’s hard work and an extensive chain of processes. For a product to be high quality, each person has to perform excellently and each process has to run smoothly. To get to the external customer, products need to move among internal customers.
In an organization, other workers can be seen as each other’s “customers.” This means quality is the responsibility of everybody in the organization. Quality assurance can be a department in a program but everyone still has a hand in it.
The external customer is the ultimate customer, but the internal customer is also essential. Every worker should have both the organization and the consumer’s best interests at heart. These interests should never conflict.
