Typically, inspection would have be one of the main ways of ensuring quality in production. In a traditional workplace, inspection is one of the most important steps in ensuring quality manufacturing. Workers would create parts, and then the inspectors would get rid of defective parts. Products were only checked in the final part of the process after all the money went into creating it.
In the modern workshop, producing a quality product each time is the goal. This can only happen if everyone chips in to inspect products. All the parts that are created need to be inspected by the workers and built to the best quality.
When everyone acts as inspector, all the parts are checked constantly, and everyone reduces scrap, time, and costs.
